Pie:
Tesco 6 Deep Filled Mince Pies
Cost:  £1.00
Score:  51.6%

Nice looking pie with star design on the top.
Some of the pies were seeping a bit though and had a brown stain.
Very sweet tasting. Plenty of sugar.
A little too sweet though.

Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"Obviously made by someone who has no talent for making mince pies. Has to rank as the worst example so far. Had the aroma of a packet of salt and vinegar, crisps and tasted pretty much like gone off chips. If these pies were an animal they'd be a panda, as panda's don't appear to have a reasonable function, apart from looking nice and cuddly. It's a shame these eating these pies doesn't burn off as many calories as a panda does eating bamboo, but I guess you can't have everything, and I would off though bamboo actually tastes better. Bamboo Pie anyone? These are from Tesco, standard range."
"Haven't clue where this one is from...I doubt this will be a high scorer. The filling was too sweet, almost left me with a sore throat. It was crumbling all over the place before it had made it out the foil and what was more concerning was the fact my pie was either undercooked or had become wet on one bit, making the crust even worse. This was one of those mass produced ones which care more about getting them out than the actual taste."
"Tesco’s? Massive lack of aroma, matched by an even bigger lack of taste. This pie has less taste than Noel Edmunds wardrobe"
"Co-op?? No Idea, Aroma made me believe the pastry was made as one of Ian Beale's side projects in his chip shop, as the smell was decidedly fishy and salty!!! However, being the professional I am I managed to put these feelings aside, forgetting the smell I gave my first impressions a clean slate, and it was excellent, the crust was superb, thick, doughy and tasty, however the filling let this pie down, it was very basic with no hint of alcohol. Bad smell, Fantastic Crust, poor filling, you can't win them all!"
"Pound shop?  Distinctly average pie with rather pallid and dull smelling pastry that also looked stained by either runny contents leaching through or maybe fats so visually not the most appealing - flavour was 'sort of OK' overall but the filling seemed to be cheap and cheerful with mainly currants/raisins and not much tang or bite with little peel and spices etc.  Probably the worst in test so far."
"The lid came away in my hand so the gap between the filling and the lid was massive"
"It is possible that this pie was made in Glasgow; it has the aroma of a Govan chip shop. The use of vegetable oil instead of butter in the pastry I think. This problem overrode the rest of the tasting experience, thus leading to the low score. The only highlight was the quantity of the filling, but even this was overshadowed by the lack of tang from the filling. Poor attempt. Co-op."
"Asda - very average, top crust crumbled, struggled to taste the filling, grappling to describe its taste, distinctly average, would not buy this pie"
"The star pattern was nice but my particular pie had filling seeping through the pastry which detracted significantly from its presentation. Otherwise, it was a solid pie - good sugar coverage, nice pastry, and a very nice, sweet filling. Nothing outstanding, but good all round - Co-op?"
"Co-op - It would be fine if you were adding salt and vinegar!!! Smelt like chip fat and that put me off totally as the flavour carried on through the whole of the pie - nasty. Also, the  lid came off before I could get the rest of the pie out!"
