Morrisons Shortcrust Mince Pies. Baked in Store
Cost:  £1.25
Score:  61.90%

It's the second time that we have tried today's interesting pie.
Another 'Baked In Store' variety.
Not a very tall pie, but a pleasant change from some of the mass produced pies.
Presentation was subtle, light sprinkle of icing sugar. Though short, pie was a good weight so it felt like it was full.
The pies also stacked rather well on the review plate... eat your heart out Ferrero Rocher!
First bight was a delight. Soft, but slightly crunchy pastry. Sweet filling with some fruit.
A very pleasant pie.
In summary, flat but oozing goodness.  Should I eat the last pie going spare.....

Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A fantastic pie... excellent pastry, but the filling to pastry ratio was a bit too low for my liking. Doesn't look/taste like from a packet... freshly baked from Morrisons?"

"Another average pie in my mind, like most this year. Filling was of good quality and texture but the pie it's self looked like it had been run over."

"Definitely needs a bit more substance in the filling, no booze in there and the fruit wasn't great, fair play for trying to be different, but this pie didn't deliver for me."

"Is this the Sainsburys pie we've already tested? The one that looks like someone sat on it? Tasty pastry, although that was all I could smell from the pie, and I like to get a sniff of filling too. It was so flat that the filling did indeed come to the top of the pie but that was quite a cheat as it was still less filling than some half full pies. Not a bad pie but nothing special - no booze, I don't like icing sugar topping and it's just too flat."

"Lightly dusted sugar coating, small pie but with tasty pastry and good filling. Enjoyed it"

"mmm... tasty. pity there wasn't more of it"

"Not that exciting to look at and with very little pre-bite aroma. First bite was not mind blowing but on second bite the true character of the pastry and filling came together.  It's a low roof pie so filling was to top of lid, so looks good in proportion.  Actually the pastry is really quiet nice and not fatty/greasy, maybe for some people a little on the dry texture side which I prefer anyway - filling was nice with definite texture and tang.  All in all a nice non-pretentious pie - this is probably either bespoke/smaller producer, or maybe a surprisingly good budget offering."

"So small. The most pathetic looking pie I've ever seen. Far too little filling and far too much pastry - good thing I have a drink handy as my mouth is now really very dry."

"The pastry was tasty and I did like the icing sugar coating.  It was a bit small though!  Lidl??"

"The worst pie I have tasted so far - the pastry did not crumble at all. The pie was very thin with little filling. Morrisons??"

"This is the Lindsey Loham of pies, as there is nothing to it, however i really enjoyed it and would love to have another as hit the spot"

"This is the pie I will be eating at home around Christmas time - Awesome, Looked a little small but tasted awesome and was filled all the way through, very tasty, great pastry too!! Lovely - Don't wanna guess - Tell me where its from!"
