Pie:
Morrisons The Best 6 Deep Filled Mince Pies.
Cost:  £2 for 18
Score:  45.53%

Today's pie was small but quite good looking.
A nice star design on the top and a gentle sprinkling on sugar made it look just nice.
It was on the small side though and only just filled it's foil case.
First impressions were disappointing, as the crust was quite thick, leaving not much space for filling.
Despite it's thickness the Crust was nice and light, moist enough not to crumble.
As there was little filling, it was hard to tell what it was like, no sign of any fruit.
I'm left with quite a sweet taste in my mouth... not much else.... I won't be asking for another one.

Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A bit like Frank Bruno, looked a good pie that could fight it's weight but it lacked that killer punch the quality of the filling. Plenty of sugar coating but this is at the lower end of the heavy weight scale pies."

"A bit of a rubbish pie. Small and not very tasty. Not sure I'd eat it if I got another chance."

"An interesting design pie which looked a bit roughly put together.  Not much aroma pre first bite, and no buttery smell.  First bite and not actually a bad pie overall.  Pastry is a little on the dry side which is no bad thing, and reasonable texture although there is a hint of a synthetic taint or slight staleness.  Not a high roof pie, but filling right up to top so looks generous, and filling itself was well textured and quite tasty.  All in all, not a bad effort."

"Hint of petrol - essence of garage ? "

"I liked the little star on top - tasted good was a little small could eat in just one mouth full. "

"I would rather jump off the empire state building and land on a bike with no saddle than eat this again!"

"It's this time of year that I rapidly run out of adjectives to describe the poorness of pastry that is proffered by the major shops and manufactures. If you can't get the pastry right, you haven't got a good pie. The pastry was terrible, and this is reflected in the score. If this pie was a council run facility it would be the public conveniences. Sainsburys."

"Lidl - good presentation but that is where it ends. It's on the small side for my liking. Bland pastry and sweet filling."

"Not a great pie, after a long hard day wanted nothing more than a nice mince pie but would prefer a slap in the face than a second one of these pies."

"Small and average in every way. Lidl?"

"Small pie with tasteless pastry. Filling was over sweet, tasted artificially sweetened in fact, and with little of the requisite spiciness and no booze. Pastry really should have a pinch of salt in it to stop it being bland, and a little sugar since these are sweet pies, and ideally some of the fat should be butter. But I couldn't taste anything but flour and shortening. It was an ok texture. I can't think this cost much, was it from a corner shop?"

"Well......that pie just ruined Christmas"

"What a poor quality pie. It looks like it's been put together by a two year old. It's no bad thing that this is only half filled with this bitter "filling". Pastry wasn't too bad though. Possibly bought on the side of an A road?"
