Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A magnificent effort - great pastry, great filling, and a substantial pie. My highest score this year" "A pretty good pie. Liked the star design, and good pastry. Lacking on filling a bit though. Might have been a contender if it was a bit bigger in terms of depth." "All in all, a very satisfying pie. Yum yum!" "An unusual semi-open-top design of jam tart dimensions with a nice pastry star motif and uncovered filling, so obviously a good hint of the 'treasures inside'. Whilst I was half expecting the first taste to be a bit dry, the first mouthful was something of a taste explosion. The pastry is just right for me as it has a light texture and with a little bit of crunch - the filling is shallow but of intense flavour. Some may argue that there is not enough filling with this type of pie, but I found that the overall taste and ratio of filling and pastry is just about right. This has been one of my favourite pies so far and the impression is it's a nice one for a more slim line snack." "Are these Craft Bakery pies? Did they overstock on flour and butter and under stock on filling? A reasonable pie, filling was actually quite nice, however majorly lacking in filling and far too much crust and 'lid' albeit a thick, unattractive star." "Good pie!" "Gorgeous filling and tasty well textured pastry. You could pass these off as homemade, but they're rather good; people would ask for the recipe. I thought they'd smell stronger since the star shaped lid doesn't cover the whole pie, but I couldn't smell much hence a lower aroma score. And the meager sugar topping was restricted to just a small part of the star. But otherwise, and in perhaps the most important categories, a very nice pie which has been made with care." "I don't think this pie is any kind of a star. To crumbly and not much of a taste to the pastry. I think this could pass me by next time." "Nice appearance, the pastry was little sticky but overall a nice pie" "Not the best, but this homemade-looking pie was certainly above average in most areas. Its tasty crust, and sweet textured filling definitely hits the spot, even if it doesn't inspire groans of pleasure." "This is what I would like to term a 'Roller-coaster' pie. It was anything but consistent taking you from the highs of the design, to the lows of the quantity, and back to the quality of the filling. The fruit tang of the mince was one of the best this year. If this pie was a UK theme park it would be Chessington World of Adventures."
