Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A forgettable experience!" "At last a pie that doesn't conform to the populist appearance. The sugar fairy has been generous, though it's friend the pie top pixie had the aim and co-ordination of a drunk octopus. The star of this pie is the luscious pastry, and the filling has potential, but again it needs the addition of some alcohol. The let down is the lack of filling. I don't think I could have been more disappointed had I won a holiday in Maldives, but found out I was to be accompanied by Graham Norton. If this pie was a fictional character it would be Wile Coyote." "Disappointing, definitely not one to pursue with. Sloppy on the outside, nothing on the inside. If this pie had more filling, better aroma and looked nicer it would be great. Having said that if Michelle McManus was 20 stone lighter and had a plastic bag over her head she would look great. Terrible pie." "Good looking number but a little flat, could have been deeper and then it would have been a right good looking little number." "Had low expectations on this one due to its flat nature, but was quite edible :-)" "On first impressions this very thin pie certainly does not instill one with confidence. It really is small, quite ugly, and over-sugared. However, on that first bite, these failings were all but forgiven. What it lacks in size and glamour, it makes up for in taste - a satisfying pastry and a lovely sweet filling which, despite the small size of the pie, is at least filled right to the top. " "Pastry needs a little salt to stop is being bland, this seemed to have none. Very little filling, though at least what you saw was what you got (not a big domed pie filled with air). Plenty of sugar but it was caster sugar; should be granulated. Particularly cheap - some kind of supermarket basic? I don't think I want to finish this." "This is a terrible pie! Too small. Far too much pastry for so little filling. Sugar coating is uneven. Knobby appearance. Zero aroma, just smells of pastry. Terrible, terrible pie." "This pie was comparable to someone obese loosing a large amount of weight. Large amounts of casing left over with very little left in the middle, the outside is still fatty and buttery, the inside is shriveled and tasteless..." "This pie was like a dwarf women, everything was out of proportion sugar on one side the filling on the other but all the same it was worth the taste as its all fun until your mates find out. " "This was quite a nice pie - more of a shallow design which is a bit different to the normal mass produced stuff. So although there is probably no more filling than a normal high pie, illusion was a better filled pie in proportion. In other words, not one of those tall empty looking things half full of air which look empty and crumple when you bite them. Filling was pretty good both from a taste and texture point of view - pastry also smelt nice and buttery with a nice slightly crunchy texture and with a generous sugary sprinkle. Judging by the style and the slightly random sugar coating, it does look like a more specialist or lower volume producer - certainly not like a bland conformist identikit such as Mr Kipling et al. Could however be provided via one of the big supermarkets and for some bizarre reason I'm guessing Morrisons marketed as 'rustic style like granny used to make'." "To me it tastes like a homemade pie by someone that can't cook, who subsequently sat on it. Even the healthy coating of sugar couldn't save it."
