Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A very good all-round pie, though the thick crust and/or very sweet filling may put some off." "Again a pie that fits in to the identikit ‘major retailer' pie-o-sphere, however it did have some nice touches. Decent, and even possibly, decadent sugar sprinkling with proper sized granules. One major moan was the disparity in the crust size between the pie top and the base. This led to asymmetrical teeth penetration, and major crummage in the lap. If this pie was an X Factor contestant it would be Jamie 'Afro' Archer." "Fairly safe in all departments. Played it extremely close to the ground, needs a bit more bottle!" "Impression was that this is a somewhat heavy stodgy pie with solid-ish pastry that tasted a bit bland and where I detected a slight touch of staleness. Also this was a tall pie where over 50% of the inside was just air, which makes it looks like a stingy offering. Having said that the filling was pretty tasty actually with some texture so that made up for it a bit. If the pie had been a 'low headroom' version, the contents and pastry would have looked in better proportion and this would have improved the scoring perception of the pie. The pies individually and together on the plate suggested a uniform precision of manufacture by a big producer and probably for one of the big mass supermarkets - I would plump for Tesco but regardless of retailer, I would be very surprised if this was a premium brand such as 'finest' or 'taste the difference' etc." "Looked good, Crust tasted buttery but lack of filling was a big letdown.. Well made pie, budget filling.." "Pastry was more like a biscuit than a pie casing. The filling tasted nice but fruit:goo ratio not generous. Sorry for the lack of 'witty' misogynistic remarks..." "Pie with a warm, comforting presentation, taste didn't let it down - Asda Extra Special" "Pretty decent. Shame it was only half filled as the filling was pretty darn good. Pastry was a bit flaky though" "Sainsbury - filling has not much texture (bit watery for my liking), pastry dominates and tasted a bit like baking soda. Not a great pie by my high standards" "The pie was a bit like Liverpool looks good but when you got into it, the gap between the filling and the lid was a bit like the Liverpool defense quite a large gap and all over the place, and lacking a bit of bite in the middle." "This was like a one night stand, Did the business not the greatest 30secs of my life nor the worst and probably wouldn't go back to it unless it was given to me on a plate"
Best Before: 11 Dec 2009 Suitable for Vegetarians
