"A good all round pie, with plenty of filling and a distinctive taste. A welcomed return to form from the recent string of poor pies (not including the M+S pie that I missed)." "A simple but sexy looking pie. Tastes absolutely brilliant. A top notch pie. Waitrose?" "Another case of being pleasantly surprised by a very average-looking pie. You won't find any pretty decorations, imprints, steam holes, or even sugar here. Just a plain flat, mis-aligned lid. Inside, however, is a very sweet and blessedly alcoholic filling surrounded by a crispy cookie-like crust (the way I like it)." "Asda? The crust was good, but I thought that the filling wasn't sweet enough!" "For the first time this year I have tasted a pie and thought 'I could eat another of those'. This is a sad indictment of this pies peers as my hefty carriage belies a penchant for the patisserie. The only criticism I can provide is a lack sugar granules, but this is a minor worry. This pie is marker, not perfect, but certainly a challenger. If this pie was a landmark it would be a lighthouse. Morrisons 'Baked in Store'." "Good all round pie. M&S " "I thought I caught a hint of Germany - Aldi? Lidl?" "I was ready to love and worship this pie. Buttery boozy smell, homemade simplicity of presentation. But this pie is a flirt and sadly lacking in commitment - why go to all that effort to make a rich spicy filling and barely half fill the pie? Waitrose?" "Lovely rich pastry. I think Sainsbury's or Waitrose maybe. Filling was a bit crunchy though." "Morrisions - Excellent Fruity Tuuty Pie (are there any more?). Enjoyed the filling, lovely fruity texture. Pastry held up very well. Good one! " "Overall appearance on the plate in foil dish is not very showy, but this is a good all rounder. The pastry has a nice buttery smell pre-bite and decent texture (moist yet with a slight crunch - in other words not greasy and soft). Biting in, there is quite a bit of space under the high roof which looks a bit measly and is normally a minus point, yet the mincemeat mixture is strong enough tasting to compensate, having some bite/texture with a hint of alcohol taste. There is a good aftertaste some time after the last mouthful, so as with wine, another sign of a decent pie. I think this is one of the big supermarkets' more luxury range maybe Morrisons/Tesco." "Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Brandy Rich Mince Pies? Great filling, had better pastry before though - was a flavoursome number full and tasty, was great to look at and smelled great but the shell was quite a let down..." "Sophisticated pie" "The pie was ok, but poor pastry, like a fit girl but with bad skin and smokes, think your onto something good then disappointment after the 1st taste, but worth having? Yes but can you do better?" "This is a touch like an ugly girl who is 'a lot more banter after a few drinks' and hence liked a lot more! Not a pretty picture, but tasted superb, cheeky drop of brandy done the job!"
