Reviews 2009 - Round 12 - Bramley Village Bakery - Deep Luxury Mince Pies PDF Print E-mail
Date:  26/11/2009
Pie:
Bramley Village Bakery - Deep Luxury Mince Pies.
Cost:  £3.15 (79p per pie)
Score:  85%

A home made look and taste to this vanilla scented pie, which had a generous dusting of caster sugar and large pieces of glace cherry in the mincemeat. Some tasty mixed peel, too.
It was a large pie, deep and filled to the top, so despite the rather thick pastry it's well balanced.
The filling tastes of Christmas, more so than any pie so far this year.
The Best Mince Pie so far in 2009!

Reviewers Comments and Guessed Origin
"A brilliant pie, the Danielle Lloyd of mince pie perfect in almost all areas, but the odd thing drops it a point like the fact she is scouse, or in the pies case too fruity not enough alcohol."

"A little injection of brandy and that would be a pukka pie!!!!!"

"Another Big one and it had plenty of sugar coating on top, and loads of filling. The filling lacked a little flavour, could have done with a slug of booze. Pastry was good nice and buttery, and at last a pie with no gap between lid and filling."

"Definitely a contender for no.1. cant fault it in any area"

"Fantastic pie - even better than yesterday's. Full to the top, a great sugar coating, and one of the biggest pies I've seen. Visual presentation could have been a bit better though. Gotta be baked in store somewhere - Tesco?"

"Hmmm, I would guess that this was an M&S effort!?"

"I can barely lift this pie, maybe it's the weight of all that sugar on top, maybe it's the amount of fine pastry it takes to make a pie this bi, maybe it's the filling that goes ALL the way to the top, or maybe I need to bulk up a bit. Surely this pie will help me put on the muscle required to lift such a brute."

"Same as yesterday, but more fruit and sugar! Bit of booze would kick up a storm, not for the faint hearted! Can see this one getting good reviews"

"That's the Daddy!"

"Unbelievably good - I can die happy"

"Very substantial, you certainly get allot of pie for your money!  A little bit heavy for a snack, this was more of a desert.  In general, however, very tasty!"

"Well, do we have a winner? I think that one of these pies could solve third world hunger. There can be improvements, but not many. It appears that we are in a period of prohibition as most, if not all, manufactures are adverse to sloshing a bit of hard stuff in to the filling. This is the only serious criticism that can be run up the flag pole. If this pie was a charity celebrity bandwagon it would be Band Aid. Not a Supermarket."

"Wow..... "
