If you live in Bristol, you might be chuffed to know that you’re topping the list – at least of Asda pies. Asda have produced an entertaining little press release indicating which areas sell most mince pies. According to them, sales are booming, having gone up 300% compared with last year’s figures. The results are in from the "Big Eat" held a Wookey Hole on Tuesday 18th November 2008. This year there is a new chamion. Denzil Gunner, 30, took 10 minutes to devour 41 minces pies - missing out on the world record by five pies!
Sonya Thomas, 36, from the US, holds the record for wolfing down 46 pies in 10 minutes in 2006. She weighed less than eight stone at the time.

Well, so says the opening line of ‘Mince Pie’ by CHRISTOPHER MORLEY. If there are any book lovers out there, we’d love to know what you think of these freebie e-books, digitized in February last year. (we haven’t got time to read, just eat... what do you think this is, the holiday season or something?) Does the story have anything to do with Mince Pies at all, or is it just a ruse to get us to read it?
Mince pies have been banned from a primary school's Christmas fete over fears they could be a health and safety hazard.
The headteacher has said the seasonal treats cannot be sold in case a child has an allergic reaction to the ingredients.
Parents have branded the decision an over-reaction
Neil Davies, headteacher at Mynydd Cynffig Junior School in Kenfig Hill, near Porthcawl, said: "I have got to guarantee the health and safety of the pupils. I'm not doing it to upset anybody."
