Summary
Today's pie looks rather good. Nice snowflake design, definite coating of granulated sugar that catches the light to make it twinkle. The first file this season with steam holes, cleverly integrated into the snowflake design. Clearly a lot of thought has got into this pie. Here's hoping it delivers.Steam holes, as we all know, let out steam from the filling during cooking otherwise the pie lid will dome / burst. Often it's a very good indication that the pie has plenty of filling... we can hope...The mince pie is about average size and feels average weight so give nothing away.
It has a reasonable aroma too..First impressions are very good. Soft sweet pastry, not too crumbly but melt in the mouth with a tasty filling. Yum.
The filling has good texture, with definite sense of fruit.A very good pie indeed. Probably the best of the season so far. Wonder what the other members of the Mince Pie Club will make of it?
