A rather nice pie, ticking many of the boxes, with an unusual straight sided / tub design. Plenty of filling too…. Just be a little careful when easing it out of it’s case.
We’ve got the Marks & Spencer Collection Mince Pies in for testing today, and they do look rather good.
As you can see from the photos this is a very good looking pie with a festive multi-star design. We think that it’s got both granulated and powdered sugar on tom, something for everyone.
The pie is a good size and weight and eases out of it’s pastry case with a little persuasion. Interesting to see that this pie has straighter / squarer sides than your average pie, could be a new design feature? It also could allow for more filling too.
We did have one pie fail to exit it’s case in the usual manner, and ended up a crumpled, crumbled mess, so we have docked half a point.
First impressions were very good. The pastry was soft and sweet and gave way easily to reveal the fruity filling within. Plenty of texture too, with plenty of vine fruits. We didn’t get much of the cranberries or clementine though. The Cognac was hard to taste too.
