Summary
Today pie seems to have it all. It's a reasonable size, filling it's foil case, it has a nice holly leaf design and a light dusting of granulated sugar. It has a subtle aromat too...The only thing that it's missing is a steam hole.
As I take it out of it's case if feels a good weight, so here is hoping that it's got plenty of delicious filling...First impressions are good too. Soft pastry that's not too crumbly, a little try perhaps but still good. Plenty of filling, though not full to the top. A good balance of tastes and not too sweet (but we are talking about a mince pie here).
the filling has good texture and you can detect the summer fruits on your tongue. All it all a good pie. I suspect that the Pie Club will like this one, it should be top 10, but it's not quite good enough to get to the very top.
