Today we have the Sainsbury’s Baked Instore Mince Pie. Though these pies will vary from store to store and day to day we thought we needed to test them so that you can know what they are like.
As you can see they are a ‘Flat’ style pie, so not too tall but much wider. So there is still plenty of room for filling. The pie is simply presented, no flashy design, just a good sugar coating.
First impressions were good, though the pastry was thicker than ‘normal’ pies so the filling to pastry ratio is different. The pastry was very good though, soft and gave way easily. The filling was nice, but there was little to stand out from it’s taste.
A pleasant Mince Pie experience, but not great…. Your pie will probably be different. Perhaps if we ate them warm / fresh from the bakery then they would taste better.
