So today we have a Sainsbury's "Free From" mince pie. Lets hope it's not "Free From" taste. The pie was well packaged and sealed, hopefully to keep flavor in. It's a simple looking pie with an even costing of granulated sugar. It came out of it's pastry case easily and felt a good size in the hand. First impressions were disappointing. The pastry was ok, not too dry, but felt a bit lacking. the pie kept it shape with that first bite. However it revealed there was very little filling in the pie, two thirds of it was air! The filling, what little of it, was fruity enough, but it was hard to tell. The over all taste is the mouth was a little too sugary for my liking.
