Summary
So today we have the Waitrose DUCHY organic mince pie. These special pies come in boxes of just 4 pies. They come cellophane wrapped so should be fresh. The pie has 3 steam holes, this is usually a good sign that the pie is full of filling. Baked in it's pastry case the pie needs to be prized out, but is easily released. First impressions are good, firm soft pastry gives way easily with not too much crumble. But this pie is only half full! We've been robbed. The filling is good, but there is not enough of it! The overall impression is sweet in the mouth, the filling has a fruity texture, but it lacking in the usual traditional taste with no sense of Orange and Lemon peel or Brandy, instead going for a a sweeter option.
A nice pie, but lacking in filling.... maybe we'd better have a second one, just to check...
