Something slightly different today, a Mini Mince Pie from the Bel & The Dragon in Reading. Now we don’t usually review Mini Mince Pies as they tend to have the balance of filling to pastry all wrong (more pastry than filling). But with this pit that we tried today we’ve got to make and exception.

A small good looking pie freshly sprinkled with icing sugar it arrived at out table well presented. We were a little disappointed by the lack of aroma, but pressed on to discover some hidden depths.
First impressions were excellent, thin light delicate pastry gave way easily to loads of delicious filling. We were surprised that a pie this small could contain so much filling. It was a little sweet, but there was plenty of texture and fruit.
Probably the best Mini Mince Pie we have tasted.... so we had a second one just to make sure.
