What a lovely looking pie we have today. We really like the star design hole, seasonal and functional. As every pie connoisseur knows that a mince pie with a hole to let out steam has given serious consideration to the filling, and is more than likely to be full.

It's hard to fault the presentation of this pie, lovely even coating of sugar, well cooked and well presented. The pie took a little coaxing to get out of its case, but that's not a bad thing.

First impressions were glorious. Pastry had a little crunch, but was soft. The filling is wonderfully fruity with texture and there is plenty of it too. A nice balance between the more 'traditional' tasting filling. And as we'd hoped the pie is nice and full too.

Could this be the best pie this year?
