Filled with vine fruit mincemeat enriched with brandy, cider and a blend of spices.
To day we have our first Mince Pie from Morrisons, and it’s a beauty. Our pie stands tall, but slightly wonky, with a lovely star design on top, leaving 5 steam holes, so we could be in for a lot of filling. It’s delicately finished with a sprinkle of caster sugar. Not a lot or aroma from this pie. It feels like a good weight in the hand, another good sign of plenty of filling. Our pie is a little brown round the edges, perhaps a little over cooked…. First impressions are rather good. The pastry is just about right, soft but not too crumbly. There is loads of filling! And its fruity too! Plenty of texture there, we can detect the vine fruits clearly. Very nice. Very little sign of the Brandy or Cider though.
As we have come to expect, Morrisons does it again with a very good pie. Well presented, well filled, a great taste and great value at £1 per box. Yum!
