” “The Best of the Best by Far”. Light sugar coating tops this massive pie, tasty crust and filling. Top of the bunch Morrisons in store?”
“A deeper dish pie with a plain top but a good overall dusting of fine icing sugar that looks like a snow flurry – the pastry has a pretty neutral odour and not suggestive of much if any real butter – little or no filling aroma through top or sides. First bite and the somewhat shortcake texture pastry is pretty nice and does in fact taste quite buttery – but due to pie size the first bite is almost all pastry. Taking a second and deeper bite, this includes more filling that is flavoursome and tangy. Although the filling is well textured and juicy, there is no suggestion of special or expensive ingredients, or any tangible alcohol/spice notes. A pretty good, solid pie that will not divide opinion and providing a substantial helping – worthy of an upper mid table position.”
“Big pie. Big fan.”
“The Cameron Diaz of pies, massive under-achiever, I remember this pie being better in previous years ie. The Mask & There’s something about Mary.. But the latest offer a massive let down i.e Bad Teacher, Knight and Day! Best used to prop up that broken chair leg or to stand on to reach a top shelf..”
“Lucky number 13, best one yet”
“Nice pie. The best pastry I’ve tried, and it’s massive. Only criticism is the fruit wasn’t to the top of the case. Other than that great. ”
“Not a massive fan. The Peter Crouch of pies as doesn’t look like it should be a mince pie more of a pork pie. Also lacked anything extraordinary about, average.”
“The Vinnie Jones pie… a real ‘man’s man’ pie! You have to show it your not scared and attack it from the off otherwise it will come out on top.”
