Summary
Today we have the Mr Kipling Deep Filled Mince Pie, a standard all Mince Pies should aim to beat.
This year we have a new box design, and a new pie top design, let's hope that the inside of the pie has been improved to the same level. The new snowflake top design reminds ups of a Tesco Finest pie, it covers the lid nicely. Our pie had a distinct lack of sugar coating, though the pastry did glisten in the light. The pie was a good size and weight in the hand, it came out of it's pastry case with ease.
First impressions were good. The pastry was soft, but not too crumbly and the filling pleasant as sweet. We could detect a few fruits in the filling too. Overall experience was pleasant, but slightly on the sweet side.
A good effort from Mr Kipling this year, and much improved pie.
