There’s something we’re very excited to try – Asda’s gin-infused mince pies.

If you’re not a fan of a traditional mince pie, or you love them but fancy trying your favorite festive snack with a twist, these mouthfuls of merriment are filled with spiced vine fruit and a splash of sloe gin, encased in an all-butter pastry, topped with a sweet sugar dusting.

Shock Discovery At Waitrose!

I was surprised to discover this evening that unlike all the other supermarket counterparts, Waitrose has declined the opportunity to sell Mince Pies this early in the season. No Christmas goods can be found in their aisles in September. The only exception to this is their Bakery, which willingly supplied Mince Pies.

Should they be congratulated for responding to their customer demands of Christmas goods for Christmas time?
After all they are still selling their Hot Cross Buns!

Hungry Massey students hook into pie-eating competition | Stuff.co.nz

Massey University students take part in a pie-eating contest.

Hot mince pastries were devoured as hungry students took part in a pie-eating competition at Massey University.

Nine people entered the competition on Wednesday and second-year journalism student James Pocock, 19, was able to stuff his face the fastest.

The contestants were given three minutes to eat as many Goodtime mince pies as possible.

 

Pocock and two others had gobbled their first pie inside the first minute, but the others couldn’t keep up with a hungry Pocock, who had finished finished 3½ pies when time ran out.
